It's been so long since I've blogged, I can hardly remember how to do it! I have promised my kids that if they would try to write in their journals nightly, I would too. This was my journal for many years. I would post pictures and details of our lives often; it was therapeutic, and I thought it would be good for our family to have a record. But the seasons that I blogged the most were when I was feeling the pull toward my extended family and when I just wanted to tell and show my mom everything!
Because nobody blogs anymore, I really don't feel any pressure about what I am posting. Nobody sees this blog! I will just try to write as often as I can and throw it out there with all of its many, many imperfections.
I know I will want to go so much more in depth about this, but the reason we are all journaling is because we have the time, and because I feel we have something to say and to remember. Right now we are experiencing a pandemic. The kids are officially home for the rest of the school year, in some weird combination of homeschool, online school, and "un-schooling." I don't have it within me to push through and turn in every assignment, especially when they will not be graded. So keeping up with a journal checks a lot of boxes for the kids and me.
Right now it is 9 pm, which is the earliest the kids have gone to bed in awhile. Of course, every kid but Gabe has been down the stairs for some reason or other. Camille brought the dog down with her to tell me she could hear Brynn playing piano in her bedroom next door. Brynn was on assignment from me to figure out the melody of one of the Disney Zombies movie songs so I could transcribe it for a student, so she came down and played it for me. Bryce was playing with his new LEGO set he got for his birthday yesterday, and then came down to snuggle and ask if there is anything he could help with to get Camille's birthday all set up. Marty is next to me downstairs on the big brown couch letting me know that the JAZZ won in a landslide of the best NBA teams to never win a championship. And here I sit trying to keep my eyes open until the kids are in bed for good and we can set up a few surpises for Camille's birthday. Hopefully the next post will come with pictures! And no Camille is back, so it looks like it's time to call it a night.
